I've covered just 1100 miles so far. It started averaging 37mpg and lately its up to 39 mpg. I have to admit that most of my driving are short, town driving runs but my driving style is very much based on economy and not speed. I used to own a daewoo matiz which was a 0.8L engine so I know how to get the most out of the gears and small engine. I would have expected at least 45mpg to be fair. I'm a bit dissapointed with the economy but I do really enjoy driving it. __________________ FIAT Forum Useful Links: Donate to FF | Buy FF Merchandise | Classifieds | FF Insurance | How-to Guides | FAQs 06-03-2010 #4 udtrev Turbo powered squirrel! You are on a hiding to nothing at present 1) it's still cold in the mornings, so it takes longer for the car to warm up (extra fuel is used when cold just like your old choke from days back)
2) you are doing short runs round town which are not exactly condusive to fuel sipping cruises.
3) you need to get a few 1000 miles on the clock for it to loosen and be more economic. I do such a low mileage that some would consider its not worth having the car. However I like the freedom and enjoy going for the odd run out. I have had the car since the 1st of October and I have still only done 1300 miles. I think the MPG has been remarkable since day one but then again my previous car was a gas guzzler. __________________ FIAT Forum Useful Links: Donate to FF | Buy FF Merchandise | Classifieds | FF Insurance | How-to Guides | FAQs 10-03-2010 #6 Geddes Get Your Own Title Join Date: Feb 2009 Posts: 415 Thanks: 11 Trader Rating: 0 Re: Fiat Panda Eco active 1.1 I did a round trip of 260 miles at the weekend in my 1.1 eco. All A-roads & dual carriageways apart from a very short hop up the M40.
Taking it steady doing 60-70 mph but not trying any hyper-miling nonsense returned 56.5 mpg. A little less than I was hoping for. Mine's got 14000 miles on it now, and I don't think economy has significantly improved since it was new. __________________ 10-03-2010 #7 gareth111278 Dazzed & Confused ! This shows its MPG from new as you can see its got better by about 5mpg over abiut 1500 Miles but it doesn't really do 'round town' as our 'town' is only small! I noticed for the first few thousand miles it did drink the fuel a bit,the first £15 of fuel the dealer put in went down very fast. The engine was so tight, doing 30 miles an hour was a struggle, in 4th gear, the car used to judder, but was much happier in 3rd. Now with 3300 miles I get between 45-50 to the gallon the engine has loosened up alot now. Most of my driving is in stop start traffic in town. __________________ FIAT Forum Useful Links: Donate to FF | Buy FF Merchandise | Classifieds | FF Insurance | How-to Guides | FAQs 10-03-2010 #9 AskCy Get Your Own Title Join Date: Sep 2009 Posts: 192 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 Re: Fiat Panda Eco active 1.1 I drive a 1.1 active eco with around 1100 miles on the clock... I was hoping to see a massive increase in distance to refueling over the old 2litre diesel rover..... hasn't happened.... But I do have to take into account that the cost of fuel has gone up a little, and a little more... so I'm not getting as much fuel for the same amount... and the engine is probably not fully run in (as the old car I got rid of had something like 150,000 miles on the clock and the engine was still purring like a new un.. if the body work hadn't been like swiss cheese I'd still be driving it ! so I can't begin to think 1000 miles is run in yet..)... some might say we are mainly doing short journeys but that really shouldn't come into play as I'm comparing cost of the old car to cost of the new car and we are nearly putting £20 a week in the car just as we did with the old car... and it was doing the same journeys.. ! (I'm still not convinced that its not being slightly over fuelled...)
