I took it back to dealer to have the emissions tested and they all passed. I do find that the rev's stay high. I have however switche the Air Compressor off to see if that saves on the fuel. I am also having problems with my Blue& Me and media player, are you? phil Joined: 15-03-2008 Posts: 9 Posted: 20-03-2008, 11:41 AM Re: Grande Punto 1.4 Eleganza hi when i got my grande brand new ,it went through petrol as if there was a hole in the bottom of the tank, but you will find as the engine beds in and loosens up power delivery and consumption will improve ..i'd give it a 1000 miles ,though keep a note of the miles your getting per tank.then if your still not happy approach your dealer with facts and figures...and if they aren't competent then phone fiat direct..... though i honestly think it's just a new tight engine phil phil Joined: 15-03-2008 Posts: 9 Posted: 20-03-2008, 11:52 AM Re: Grande Punto 1.4 Eleganza hihave you tried another dealer or contacting fiat direct ??? i would imagine that with the computer they would be able to check if any sensors are out of tolerance or if the throttle pedal itself is working correctly ie if they presss the pedal fully to the floor the diagnostic pedal will say it's fully down ...i find the dealers useless / not intereted..they won't get paid if they dont find a fault ,so if it isn't obvious to them i reckon they just put no fault found..ask if their is any stored errors in the ecu..or maybe try a commercial (van) fiat dealer ..generally commercial dealer are more customer orientated,knowledgable and helpful..after alla customer could cancel an order for say 50 vans if they mess them about ...so you may find the commercial lads are more helpful..sorry if that sounds long winded phil neilychap Joined: 31-01-2009 Posts: 26 Location: Leicester Posted: 15-02-2009, 11:08 PM Re: Grande Punto 1.4 Eleganza I have had my 1.4 8v Eleganza for 3 weeks now and it does seem a bit thirsty. I am averaging 30mpg around town compared to 42mpg in my old mk2 1.2 8v Punto. Admittedly the recent bad weather hasn't helped as there is a lot of stop/go driving so "normal" driving conditions may show something different. My other car is a 2.2 16v Direct Injection Vectra which is v. v. thirsty but this does 26-30mpg around town too. I was expecting the Punto to be better but maybe after running it in for a 1000 miles or so it'll improve. Blue&Me is fine, using a 32GB memory stick I just find the lack of functions while a track is playing (seek, track time/remaining etc.) a bit of a pain and should only be a software update to change this, shouldn't it?
