| | 2011 FIAT 500 LOUNGE WHITE TWIN AIR FREE ROAD TAX .
Here we have our little fiat 500 lounge twin air in gleaming white. We have owned her since she rolled out of the main dealers and has been a wonderful ...> economical yet fun car to drive. She is beautiful to look at and to be in!! The only reason we are letting her go is that we no longer require two cars. Mine is too big for our needs so we want to get something middle sized so the fiat is the first to go. She has only been serviced by the main dealers once as is doesn`t yet need its second service, and that was done in January this year. The engine is very lively when required due to being fitted with a turbo selection button. The taxation class on this fiat is FREE!!! She isn`t due for an MOT until Feb 2014She is fitted with Fiat original alloy wheels that have never met a curb. The tyres are all in good condition with plenty of tread left on them as you would expect from a car that is only a year old. She has a glass roof which is only available on the lounge spec model. The interior of her is immaculate and the back seats have never even been sat in. we are non smokers, have no smelly animals, or mucky children, and the interior and paintwork has been treated with supaguard from the showroom. We paid for her £12960 just one year ago!! viewing is welcome and recommended. if you have any questions please feel free to ask. 01728603035 and ask for Geoff. 6 ISSUES FOR £1 Search Car Reviews: You're in - Car Reviews: New Reviews Fiat 500C Cheeky drop top version of funky Fiat 500 goes head-to-head with MINI Convertible. Auto Express Car Reviews Rating: For : Style, practicality, desirable image Against : Rear visibility, price premium Styling/imageGlance at the new 500C and you’d be forgiven for thinking it looks identical to the funky fixed-head variant. However, look a little closer and you’ll spot the addition of fabric roof section. Like the Fifties original the newcomer isn’t a full convertible, but instead uses a full-length canvas sunroof that stretches from the top of windscreen to the tailgate. Only two trim levels are available – entry-level Pop and luxurious Lounge. Alloy wheels are standard on the range topper, while both versions can be specified with a wide-range of eye grabbing body graphics.Interior/practicalityWith so few modifications to the exterior, the 500C’s characterful cabin is almost identical to the standard car. That means you get a decent amount space, although taller adults will find conditions in the back a little cramped. Noise insulation is excellent with the hood up, while the roof can be lowered at speeds of up to 37mph. On the other hand, rear visibility is poor whether the soft top is up or down. At least luggage capacity is reasonable at 182-litres, which is just three litres down on the hatchback.Engine/performanceBuyers get the choice of two petrol engines – a 69bhp1.2-litre and 100bhp 1.4-litre. The smallest unit is smooth and peppy, but struggles to keep up with fast moving traffic. Keen drivers will find the larger 1.4-litre powerplant a lot more responsive, although it lacks refinement. For diesel fans there’s the excellent 75bhp 1.3-litre, which blends decent punch with strong economy. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard, while the 1.4-litre gets a six-ratio unit. There’s also the option of the firm’s clunky Duologic automated manual transmission for the petrol-engined models. Driving ExperienceWith the roof in place the 500C driving experience is identical to that of the hatchback. With so much of the original bodywork left in place, the Italian barely suffers from scuttle shake, even over rough surfaces. The steering is direct and the car’s small dimensions result in great agility, particularly around town. While it’s not as fun to drive as the MINI convertible, the Fiat will still bring a smile to your face, particularly when the roof is stowed and the sun is shining. Ownership costsCompared to the MINI convertible, the 500C represents cut-price wind-in-the-hair motoring. However, the Fiat is around £3,000 more than the equivalent hatchback model, despite only offering a £1,000 worth of extra standard kit. At least the diesel model will help claw back the extra outlay with its excellent fuel returns of 67.3mpg. All models benefit from lengthy 18,000 mile/three year service intervals, which help to keep maintenance bills down.Safety/environmentThe hatchback scored a maximum five stars in EuroNCAP testing – and with so few changes to the body it’s likely the cabrio will be equally as strong. All versions get seven airbags, while electronic stability control is standard on Lounge versions and a £300 option on the Pop. The diesel is the eco-friendly choice because it emits only 110g/km, which results in a low annual tax bill of £35 VED.Our Choice: 500C Lounge 1.4 For an alternative review of the latest Fiat 500C visit our sister site carbuyer.co.uk What Next COMPARE CAR LOANS COMPARE CAR INSURANCE For more breaking car news and reviews, subscribe to Auto Express magazine. Just can't reconcile the £3000 premium for the roll back roof. Are they pricing it high due to production constraints or did they just get a bit carried away. By Beckerman on 4 February, 2010, 3:20pm I completely agree, this new convertible version would make the perfect city car with the great fuel efficiency, and good looks, I really like it! By StephanieSmith on 19 March, 2010, 12:18pm Bit to Expensive It looks the Biz. It is so true to the original "sardine tin" type roof. It's just unfortunate that the price rise from the ordinary saloon makes it less of a bargain. Plus, you would only be able to use the roof for a couple of weeks a year due to the great British weather! But a great effort. By bigbazza on 30 March, 2010, 8:00am Agress with you guys... Cool little city car but expensive, far more chic than the Mini that its been pitched against. The Mini is so common, every tom Dick & Harry has one, nothing special, makes it almost noveau chav. By scott1234 on 4 April, 2010, 12:26pm Popular! The Fiat 500 is everywhere these days. Because it is a great little car - fact! Long may it reign. By zerotolerance on 10 April, 2010, 5:46am Why???? Cant see the reason for this car at all it was ugly in its original form & even worse now. I understand it has a big following but I fail to see why. Its expensive in all its variants & wort of all its made by Fiat. By Tigger on 13 April, 2010, 8:32am Tigger are you blind! If you think the Fiat 500 is ugly you must be blind or have no taste or both. Are you a Ford fan by any chance? By bigbazza on 18 April, 2010, 8:55pm Brilliant little car. As scott1234 says, this car is so much better than the "Mini" it is often compared with at a fraction of the price. Unlike BMW, The Italians know how to build small cars. This convertible variant isn't really for me though, what I am waiting for is the planned station wagon 'Giardiniera' model. I almost bought a new Fiat 500 in 2009 but the luggage space was too small for me. The original fifties Fiat 500 Giardiniera was a brilliant package in its day and from what I have seen, the planned modern version will be as good. Bigbazza, I think Tigger is more likely to be a BMW MINI fan than Ford. I bought a new Fiesta which is great but I still have a hankering for a fiat 500. By cabinscooter on 4 June, 2010, 9:32am Brilliant little car. Sorry, should have said sixties for the Giardiniera. 6 ISSUES FOR £1 Search Car Reviews: You're in - Car Reviews: First Drives Fiat 500C 1.4 Lounge British buyers will get eagerly awaited cabrio first. But does it live up to the hype? Auto Express Car Reviews By Jack RixAugust 2009 Rating: The 500 is rolling back the years! Taking inspiration from the sardine tin-style fabric roof of the 1957 original, this is the new convertible variant of Fiat’s top-selling city car. And in recognition of the Brits’ love of drop-tops, the 500C goes on sale here in the UK before any other market in the world. At a glance, you’d be forgiven for mistaking the newcomer for its fixed-roof relative. In fact, thanks to the novel hood set-up, the four-seat layout, safety features and virtually identical boot space are all carried over, while the exterior dimensions remain unchanged. There are other benefits of fitting what is effectively an extended fabric sunroof, too. These include the opportunity to cut development costs, thanks to the hatch and convertible sharing a number of body panels. And, with the side sections still in place, the car’s overall rigidity is less affected by the lack of a lid.A glorified sunroof it may be, but with the hood fully retracted this car feels every inch a ‘proper’ convertible. Pick up the pace and there’s just enough turbulence to ruffle your hair. Close the hood up again and refinement is the same as with a metal roof. Operated via either a button above your head or the key fob, the top’s electric pulley operation is slick. You can choose between three stages – and you can change your mind at any point up to a speed of 35mph.The only real oversight is that with the glass rear window and heavy-duty fabric piled high at the back, the rear view is completely obscured, making roof-down manoeuvres tricky. Optional Parking sensors are essential – but they are only standard on this Lounge-trimmed model. Available in a choice of three shades – ivory, red and black – the soft-top has been designed to complement the paint colours buyers can specify. These include a trio of new creations for the 500C: Tech-House Grey, Ragamuffin Red and Goth-Metal Blue. We’ve already driven the capable 1.3-litre Multijet diesel, but here we try the 100bhp 1.4 petrol (31bhp more than the 1.2). And it doesn’t take long to realise that this motor is much better suited to the 500’s playful character, revving freely and offering a tuneful exhaust note. Dynamically there’s little to choose between drop-top and hatch. Thanks to bolstering of the windscreen’s top crossmember there’s no hint of wobble or shake from the chassis – so the 500C is just as keen in corners. You still sit very high, though, and the steering is too light in normal mode (yet too heavy in the Sport setting). Also, our car’s optional 16-inch alloys resulted in a harsh ride – we’d stick with the standard 15-inch wheels. The 500C is so lovable that most buyers will have made up their mind before even taking it for a spin – so its success hinges on the price. The convertible carries a £3,000 premium over the hatch – with options, our car came to £15,095 – but even so, it’s still one of the cheapest new cabriolets you can buy. And with prices starting from only £11,300 for the 1.2 Pop, there’s plenty of value on offer.Rival: Peugeot 207 CCPrettier than its predecessor, with a higher quality cabin and an even more usable folding hard-top, this picks up where the 206 CC left off. It’s not perfect, yet it remains one of the most attractive packages in this class. It offers top-down thrills virtually without compromise, drives as well as the hatch, has the same cabin layout and gives up only three litres in boot space. The only downside is roof-down rear visibility. A £3,000 premium over the hatch might seem steep, but this is still one of the cheapest and by far the cheeriest new convertibles money can buy. More Tags: First drives Post to twitter First drive - Fiat 500 C 1.3 Multijet Lounge Monday 12 October 2009 Fiat 500 Drop-top 500 sticks close to the original and is full of retro charm. What is it?
The 500 C is the convertible version of the retro-cute Fiat 500. Inspired by the original 1957 Fiat 500 Nuova, it features an electric-folding fabric roof that retracts like a very large sunroof, down through the rear window, to sit just above the bootlid. Fiat says that the benefit of keeping the roof like this – other than staying true to the original car – is that the 500 C’s body retains most of its rigidity, which would otherwise have been lost in the removal of the pillars and roof rails. This, in turn, means that the 500C gets the full five-star NCAP rating. The 500 C – available in two trim levels, Pop and Lounge – will set you back around £3,000 more than the standard tip-topped car, but it does get more equipment, with both trims receiving an upgraded interior and Lounge models adding climate control, ESP, front fog lights and rear parking sensors. Is it any good?
The 500 C is a superbly capable convertible. One of the great benefits of the folding roof design is that Fiat has been able to maintain the car’s interior dimensions, so there’s still a good-sized boot and enough rear space to squeeze in two small adults. Fiat has managed to limit the amount of buffeting with the roof fully down, even at motorway speeds, while the occupants don’t get blown about much either. The car feels solid too, and there’s only the slightest hint of scuttle shake – not helped on bumpier surfaces by the 500’s slightly stiff suspension and the larger 16” alloys on our test car. Overall though, the 500 C feels very good to drive, with well-weighted steering. We’ve previously criticised the 1.3 Multijet engine in larger models such as the Qubo and Grande Punto for its lack of grunt, but in the lighter 500 it seems to make much more sense. It’s still not the quickest of engines, but there’s less need to work the gears and it’s happy cruising, with the ability to pick up nicely for overtaking. With the roof up too, the 500 C feels much like the hatch to drive and there’s not a great deal of extra wind noise through the fabric roof. The only minor niggle with the 500 C is its poor rear visibility. The rear quarter view is almost completely obscured due to the bulky rear pillars, while the roof sits quite high when folded down, limiting the view through the rear mirror. It is an issue, but thankfully the rear parking sensors (standard on Lounge models) compensate to help avoid collisions. Should I give it garage space?
If you’re after a seriously cool budget convertible to see you through the summer – and into the winter – the 500 C is the car for you. It perfectly combines the joys of top-down motoring with all the things we love about the 500. The roof is very easy to use, requiring the pressing of just one button above the rear-view mirror. It can be opened in two stages too, either as a large, open sunroof, or fully retracted. It can even be operated at speeds of up to 30mph. And don’t let the £3K price hike put you off. Fiat will be doing some affordable personal finance deals on the 500 C, so buyers can get their hands on one for as little as £199 per month. Specifications
